About My Rescue Work There are so very many animals awaiting adoption in every area of this country -- purebreds and mutts, boys and girls, puppies and seniors, and everything in between (and don't forget cats, rabbits, small mammals and horses too)! Please consider ADOPTION as your first option. I am so humbled by recognition in the Spring 2023 issue of South Magazine primarily focused on my work photo'ing adoptables. You can click the image below to read it if you like. In January, 2025, Mount Pleasant Magazine also featured my volunteer work and recent award for National Philanthropy Day. I am proud to say that over the last several years I have photographed adoptable animals reaching into the tens of thousands now, across a number of different groups in both Virginia and South Carolina. Currently, I shoot adoptables weekly for Charleston Animal Society and for other projects as requested, as well as providing regular adoptable photos for Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary and Dorchester Paws, along with other local foster-based rescue groups. I have been a Service Professional and Artist Member of HeArts Speak since 2012. If you volunteer with or officially represent a rescue organization and want to discuss having your fosters or shelter pets photographed, please contact me. I am happy to support your efforts and there is never a charge associated with this service. (And if you are geographically out of my area, I will refer you to someone who can assist you in your region.) Shelter and rescue/foster photos receive the same time, effort, care and attention as client projects do. This is an important part of my work and I take it quite seriously because I know these furry lives are at stake as they sit in shelters awaiting adoption.
** Important - You may see from time-to-time photographers seeking pay or sponsorships to go photograph shelter pets. Everyone operates differently, but I will NEVER get behind this as a "thing" and shelters/rescues should know that there is an entire body of volunteer photographers who have committed to doing this pro bono via HeARTs Speak. In over 21 years of shelter photos, I have never - and will not ever - accept or request payment to photograph adoptable animals. ** I also participate in (and host) several photo fundraisers each year to benefit different local rescues (holiday event samples below). |
